So, you went and got a blog?
Hello friends - it’s been a bit, as I have been out experiencing this incredible globe of ours! I was lucky enough to take a trip to Australia…and it was amazing.
But it feels great to be back in Brooklyn. Whilst away, thinking and doing and seeing and being, I was brainstorming. As a result, I’m really excited to get started on some new projects.
First things first! My official musical name is now I Am Lightyear. Lightyear has always been a moniker in my mind, and will continue to be so (I’m not going to get on stage and say “I am I am Lightyear” because that sounds SILLY), but there are some other movers and shakers out there traveling all the miles like me, and it’s getting too confusing. SO. ”Lightyear” is no longer - when I am booked, I will be booked as “I Am Lightyear” - this way we all know WHO IS WHO.
That doesn’t really change anything for anyone, as all of my social networks, websites, etc have used that full name…but eventually on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc, the name will be changed as well!

Been working to re-vamp my photography website and make things a bit more professional. Added some watermarks that I think really help. At least from a mind-set standpoint, for me. Anyways, I forgot how much I loved this photo of Lauren Zettler and Allison Weiss (Halloween 2010) until revisiting my site!

After years of releasing music as a singer-songwriter, Brooklyn-based musician Lauren Zettler needed to make a change. Her new electro-pop project, Lightyear, is catchy, yet dramatic, and shows her as graceful, but still vulnerable about her emotions. Drawing from influences like Emily Haines, Feist and Robyn while also tapping into her own technical skills — she’s a classically trained pianist and studied film scoring at the Berklee School of Music — Zettler is able to create beautifully fragile moments that build up to powerfully stirring points.

It’s true. It’s under yet another band name, made up of myself and Cameron Mizell, and you can find it on iTunes (and Amazon and other places).
It’s pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

Well, here we are, the final song off of my new EP: From Here. It’s pretty quiet. I ended the EP with this song because at the time I wasn’t sure where I was headed next….so it made sense. Where do we go from here? Sometimes there isn’t an answer. And you just keep going.

I chose Flux because I liked the idea of being able to curate my own experience for everyone who comes to support. And the studio space is gorgeous with a beautiful grand piano. OH AND THERE’S A ROOF WHERE WE CAN ALL HAVE AN AFTER PARTY.
